Elliot laughed softly as the girl pleaded her case against him taking the apple. ”Well, I figured since you were talking, I would take a bite. So sue me for wanting a bite of my own apple.” He replied, grinning at her. Really, she could easily just take the apple right back from him and he wouldn’t have cared a bit. Elliot didn’t mind sharing his stuff. Finally, after all that arguing, she said she didn’t even want another bite. With a small scoff, the male shook his head at her. ”Typical girl. Always making a biggg deal out of everything for no reason.” He teased, still grinning at Mel.
The brunette took a bite out of the apple again, chewing on it as he listened to her go on and on about Romeo. No, he had never really been a fan of the whole story either. It was a bit over dramatic, and it sounded way to complicated. ”Good point. I wouldn’t want that either. Way too much drama.” Elliot laughed softly, ”You’re a bright girl, I’m sure that you’ll figure out a way. I have faith in you.”
Aww, what she was saying was pretty cruel. Even if she was joking. Elliot stuck out his bottom lip, pouting as he listened to her say he didn’t know what she would and could do. ”Meany. Some bestie you are, you probably have all the plans set out to kill me, don’t you?” The male was then once again, laughing. ”No, not yet. Almost, but not yet.” Oh man, if he had to sit around in Heaven or Hell, and watch his little sister slowly turning prep, he’d want to kill himself all over again. Too bad that wouldn’t be possible. Elliot frowned at the idea, ”No, I rather like how my little sister is turning out so far. I’d like to keep it that way.”

Melanthe huffed. "Well then. Gee, thanks." She answered. "Perhaps I will sue you." She smirked deviously. "I mean, who ever said that I was finished with it?" She knew as well as he that if she truly wanted it, she could take it from his grasp as easily as he had taken it from hers. After the insult, she huffed again. "So like a man to take food without even asking." She countered easily.
Melanthe sighed. "I know. Seriously..." She trailed off, remembering her English classes. She remembered that Elliot happened to be in hers. "Hey! Do you remember when Mr. Tuselton did that Nurse voice? Oh, and when he said the Romeo was this emo kid?" She asked. Of course, he probably would. Even though that was back in ninth grade, their start of high school, their teacher's kid-like antics would remain forever rooted in her head. She didn't think she could ever forget him and his awesome explanations of things. "Well, gee thanks. Thats gonna be fun. My voyage to find my knight in shining armor. Sounds completely wrong. Besides, a knight in shining armor is way too cliché." She informed him
A smirk took place upon her lips again. "Good. So at least I've been proved mean. That's a start on being horrible." She said, laughing. "Yup! Everything's planned out." She said, grinning. It was funny, in a way, talking that she would kill him. Horrible, yes. But the situation in it's self was funny. Should another person come upon them, and not know their relationship, would probably think them demented, talking about Elliot's death by Melanthe's hands. They'd probably find themselves in front of somebody telling them about some mental hospital or something like that. Although, if that happened, she would probably be laughing about that.
"Are you suuure? You don't want your adorable little sister to grow up into some bitchy slutty prep?" Of course, she knew that probably one of his worst fears for the cute little girl. Melanthe had met the girl several times. She was adorable, really. Not to mention the fact that she had begun to dress in a similar style to Elliot and her style of dress. A style that others called "scene." But she personally didn't like being categorized, and denied being scene.

Elliot continued to grin. ”You’re welcome.” Aw, that’d be pretty sad if she did sue him. Well, technically she’d be suing his dad basically. Elliot didn’t have a job, and so he got all his money from his father. ”Okay, sue me. I’ll pay you in apples.” He replied, laughing softly. That probably wouldn’t work, but it was still a funny idea. Elliot stuck out his tongue at her before replying, ”Just like every other girl, who thinks everything is theirs.”
Elliot thought about it, trying to remember the English class from freshman year. Oh yeah, he remembered that. It was one of the times he was actually in class. He really enjoyed that English class, just because the teacher and his humor. Laughter escaped the male as he nodded his head. ”Yeah, I remember. That class was always interesting. He was cool.” Even more laughter left the teens lips as she continued on about the knight in shining armor. ”Well, if you want a knight in a trash can, I think I can manage that. If it’s a clean trash can, and empty.” Wow, that would be a sight alright. Elliot..in a trash can. Yeah.
Suddenly, the male started scooting away from Mel. ”Fine. I see how it is. I’ll just stay away from you so that you can’t hurt me and kill me.” He retorted, continuing to put distance between of them. Naturally, this wouldn’t last long, because he was a rather clingy touchy person. He liked to sit close to people, or on them. Elliot continued to eye the female, watching her to make sure she didn’t try and make some sort of..move.
His frown never left his lips as she continued on with the idea of his little sister turning into a bitchy slutty prep. ”I’m positive. I’d rather have her be a bitchy scene kid than a bitchy slutty prep.” Man, he could only imagine seeing his sister as a teenager. Elliot could only hope she turned out not preppy, or slutty. He really didn’t want her to grow up a screw up like he was already becoming.

Melanthe rolled her eyes exaggeratedly, a grin creeping upon her lips taking away the whole act. She knew it would be pointless to sue him. For one, it would be a completely ridiculous case, and she knew he would win anyways. And, it would be a waste of time, and probably money, anyways. And it wasn't like either of them had that much anyways. "Pay me in apples? Well, that's soooo much better, then, isn't it?" She said with a devious smirk. Of course, apples wouldn't do any good, anyways. Well...hmmm, she could make apple juice with it. The much better alternative to orange juice. "So like every other guy to...shit..." She couldn't think of a good reply to that, which sucked, big time. She hated him getting the better of her. Of course, she could say that it was so like a guy to continue something stupid like that, but it wasn't true. Not many, overall, did that. Of course, most of the ones in her life did, but she knew not all of them did. So, she lost something to say, and she knew he would lord it over her.
Mel watched as he thought back on their freshman year English class. Melanthe was blessed, for she had many classes with him in freshman year. Which was funny, because when they saw each other again and again in the classes, they started to laugh. She didn't think she'd have that many classes with one person. But she did. And, frankly, she was glad to have had them. "Hell yeah it was!" She chimed, grinning. When mentioning knight in a trash can, Mel burst out laughing. She couldn't help it; the image of him in a trash can was waaay too funny. "N-no," she managed to choke out between her laughs, "I can settle for a knight in jeans and a tee."
As Elliot scooted away, her laughter subsided. "Nuuuu!!!!" She actually said 'nu.' It was something she said often, no matter how odd it sounded. She didn't care. "Don't leeave meeee!!" She scrambled towards him, latching onto him, giving him a big hug around his shoulders. "I won't kiill youuu!!"I promiise!" She exclaimed. "Just don't leave me!!" Mel really was a bit of a clingy person. She didn't like much not having some sort of physical contact with another, even if they were simply a friend. She loved to give hugs to people, and that usually sufficed. Even if it disturbed some of her friends that had "personal bubbles."
She decided not to continue on the subject of his sister any longer, so she replied with a simple, "Mmm, yeah." She sighed heavily, looking around. Some more people had arrived, but none of their friends. "Gods, where is everybody?? I'm booored."

Elliot smirked, nodding his head at his friend. ”You know it. Apples would be ten times better than cold hard cash.” In reality, it really wouldn’t and he knew that. Heck, he would take money over apples any day. There was a lot more that one could do with a bunch of money than a bunch of apples. With apples you had two possibilities, but with money the possibilities were pretty much endless. Well, it depended on how much money you had actually. Elliot started laughing after she failed to counter what he said. ”I win!”
Yeah, freshman year had been quite interesting to say the least. It was the start of their friendship after discovering they had quite the handful of classes together. Elliot couldn’t remember ever having so many classes with anyone else. It made the two of them look even more inseparable, as if they actually PLANNED to have that many classes together. Naturally, they didn’t, but in the end it had worked out pretttty well. Freshman year had been a blast for Elliot. Elliot broke away from his thoughts as he heard the girl beside him laughing, a lot. The male grinned as he watched her, the whole thing was quite amusing. He really hadn’t thought what he said was so funny. ”Well, okay. I’ll be your knight in jeans and a tee, then.” He replied, laughing softly.
Aha! Just the reaction he had been expecting. Elliot smirked at Mel’s reaction to him scooting away. Just like he was, she was pretty clingy too. Chuckling, he returned the big hug he suddenly received. ”Okay, okay. Calm down, okay? I won’t leave you. I promiseee. Just don’t suffocate me with your hug, okay?” He said in between his laughter. The two of them were such a hysteric pair. There was hardly a boring moment when they were together. There was always weird conversations and constant laughter.
Elliot looked around the courtyard as well, blinking his dark eyes. ”Oh, I see how it is. Apparannttllyy, now I’m boring. Meanyy.” His bottom lip jutted out as he looked back at Mel, pouting and acting as if he was really hurt. Then he simply shrugged his shoulders, ”Maybe they decided to sleep in. That’d be just our luck.”

Melanthe nodded, rolling her eyes again. Money was so much better than apples. Money was what she needed to go to Lording's, the school she had really wanted to go to. Money was useful in pretty much every aspect of anything. You wanted something, you bought it with money. You wanted someone to do something, you could easily get it done by paying them. Money was something everybody dealt in, and you could never get out. Everything was controlled by money. It was a fact of life, really. But, apples were good too. One of the two most known fruits in the world. And delicious, too. At Elliot's exclamation, she grumbled. "You're lucky, too." She mumbled.
Freshman year, although it seemed a lot more than three years ago, was a great time. You found out who exactly you'd spend the rest of your high school life with. You got new friends, new enemies. Dropped some, gained some. Homework piled on your back quickly, and you learned how difficult high school really was. Why there were people that dropped out. It was a whole other world, and you learned that in freshman year. But for Melanthe, it was a fun time. She made a lot of new friends and they had a group. They were a big group of friends. Sure, there was dishonesty and drama even within their group, but it was common to have. But they were friends, and that was what had mattered. And now it was senior year. Their final year. But she didn't want to think about that at the moment. "Okies. You can be my knight in jeans and a tee." She said, grinning.
She knew that it was a bit of a trap. She could've been all defensive about it, but it was more fun to hug him from behind like she was. She didn't care for being boring. She liked excitement, and things that were simply fun. She didn't care what other people thought of her, she just did things. It was how she was, and how she'll be, most likely forever. But much less so later in life. She didn't want to scare off possible employers. She grinned as he turned to give her a hug as well. Just as big and cuddly as hers was. "Okie dokies, then!" She said, all chipper again. She could retort that suffocating him was her plan, but that wouldn't be any fun. "I won't suffocate ya, promise!" She said, withdrawing her slender arms from around him. Instead, she sat in his lap, looking up at him with a grin. It was much more fun for her to sit on him than him sitting on her, like he did earlier. He was bigger than her, which made it more comfortable. Besides, he was her teddy bear. In her mind, anyways. He was just as cuddly as one.
Mel acted as if he was panic-stricken at his words. "No, no, no, no, no!!" She exclaimed, looking up at him. "You ain't boooring!!" Awkwardly, she gave him another hug. "Probably..." She answered, dropping her arms with a sigh. She didn't really care if they slept in or not. As long as she had her best friend, nothing else mattered as much.

Well, lucky was definitely something that Elliot wouldn’t consider himself. ”I’m not lucky. I just have more comebacks than you do.” He retorted, grinning at Mel. No, he was far from lucky. Getting stuck raising a 5 year old was the most unlucky thing a person could possibly get.
”Are you going to dub me thy knight?” He questioned, even going as far as to throw in some old English into it. It only fit, since they had just been talking about English and Romeo. Well, it seemed he really did learn something from reading Shakespeare. That was saying something too, because he barely read the book when they were assigned to.
Elliot laughed softly, ”Good. I kind of need to breathe. It would help me get farther in life.” He said, an obvious amount of sarcasm laced into his statement. A small grunt escaped the male as she suddenly sat down in his lap. It wasn’t that she was heavy or anything though, no, Mel was pretty light. Elliot grinned at the girl, reaching over and poking at her sides gently. ”Comfy?” Of course she was, or else she wouldn’t be sitting in his lap.
Even more laughter escaped the male as she freaked out after hearing his words. He had only been teasing her, but he ended up getting yet another hug. ”Uh-huuh. It’s okay, you can say I am. I won’t mind.” Being around Elliot was hardly boring usually, though. Of course in the mornings he was usually more on the quiet mellow side because he was still tired. Otherwise he was a bundle of energy and constantly causing trouble. ”Yeah, probably. Those poopheads.” He replied, sighing softly. What he would give to be able to sleep in for once. He really couldn’t remember the last time he did. Normally he was up every day around 6, even on the weekends.
More and more people were slowly starting to filter into the courtyard, which only signaled that school would be starting soon. Elliot took another bite out of the remains of his apple, finishing it off. Then he dumped the core of it in the grass with another small sigh. He was still hungry!

Mel crossed her arms in fake anger. "You do not. Again, I say, it's just luck!" She knew that he didn't think himself lucky. He was stuck with his little sister, a five year old girl. That had to be tough on him. Frankly, she found him lucky. At least he could influence her in a good way. She was young, and could be influenced. So much unlike Mel's sister, who was only three years younger than herself, and wasn't able to be easily influenced by the time Mel found her place. She knew that he wasn't able to start a relationship because of the child. Not unless the girl wanted to have the child tagging along everywhere.
A grin slipped upon her lips at his words of knighting him. Grabbing a piece of paper from her bag, she rolled it up. Tapping his shoulders, she pronounced, "I dub thee Sir Elliot, knight-protector of Lady Melanthe." A smirk replaced the grin. "Now you have to protect me from everything," she informed him, brushing strands of her black hair from in front of her eyes. However, it fell again. Grabbing her bag, she replaced the paper, and grabbed her Hello Kitty hair pin and pulled her bangs back, pinning it with her beloved pin. "There!" She exclaimed to no one in particular.
"That, it would" She replied nonchalantly, but for the grin to once again creep upon her lips. She squealed at his pokes at her side, which happened to be quite ticklish. He knew it, too. He had many fun days tickling her sides, especially with her squealing that resulted from it. "Yes, quite. Except for your poking!" She said, a hint of slight annoyance in her voice. She didn't like much people poking her in her ticklish places; it did kinda hurt, even if Elliot's was a bit softer than usual.
"You are not boring. That job is for other people, not us." She replied, sighing. Their conversations were far from boring. And it was simply hard for them to be bored when the two of them were together. But even so, they were usually a lot less hyper in the mornings than in the daytime or evening. Just being up earlier slowed their hyperness from activating. It was a simple fact, at least for them, anyways. "Prooobaablyy," She replied, singing it softly.
She watched him devour the rest of the apple, depositing the core that was left in the grass. She sighed, and leaned back onto his chest, watching more people filter in from various vehicles. She saw her own sister, but her eyes quickly scanned over that, for she didn't acknowledge that being. She heard his sigh, and smirked. As people put it, he was a growing boy and needed food. She never thought of such, but she knew that he needed more than a measly apple to sedate his hunger. She fished out a granola bar from her bag and handed it to him, which was usual for her to do. Especially since her mother had forced her to take it, even as she had taken it from its box. Stupid, really.

Elliot grinned at her fake anger, laughing softly. ”Whatever you say, Mel.” No matter what she said, he would always think of himself as unlucky. He was definitely a very stubborn person. He had to be stubborn at times, especially towards his little sister. Elliot was far from the kind of person that would just give in, and let people walk all over him. No, he was the type of person you’d think was an ass because they were outspoken and didn’t accept things till they were perfect and just the way he wanted them.
His dark eyes followed, watching as she pulled out a piece of paper. So she really was going to dub him her knight. A small bit of laughter escaped his lips as she tapped his shoulders with the rolled up paper. ”YAY!” He exclaimed, a bit too loud and over excited. Oh well. ”You know, even before I was you’re knight I would protect you from everything.” It was true, if anyone even attempted to hurt Mel he would be all over them in a second flat. Mel was really important to him, and held a really special place in his life. Elliot smirked as he watched her fight the war with her bangs. As soon as she got it all fixed and perfect, he reached over and gently took it out. Then, he pulled his bangs back and pinned them back with the pin he just stole. ”There!” He exclaimed, mocking Mel with a triumphant grin. ”You’ve been jacckkeed.”
Even more laughter exploded from Elliot as her squeal filled the air. Naturally, he knew how extremely ticklish she was. He also knew she wasn’t a fan of being tickled. Elliot couldn’t blame her though, because he was ticklish, and it got annoying if people tickled him too much. He took her hint though, and he moved his hands away from her sides, placing them on the ground.
Elliot smiled as he felt Mel lean back against his chest. His arms wrapped around her stomach loosely. Man, to anyone that didn’t know the two of them, it’d probably look like they were dating. Not all best friends sat on each other and were all over each other like him and Mel were. They definitely had an odd, but amazing friendship. As if on que after his sigh, she pulled out a granola bar and handed it to him. It was a pretty normal thing, because he hardly ever had enough food for breakfast. Despite being really skinny, he did eat a lot. Sometimes he was in such a rush in the morning that he would forget to grab something for breakfast. So it was definitely a good thing that he could always count on Mel to have some sort of goodie for him to eat.
Taking the granola bar, he removed his arms from around her for the moment and opened it. Then he proceeded to take a bite out of it, his dark eyes looking around the courtyard. ”I don’t want to go to class.” He mumbled, followed by a small sigh.

Mel simply rolled her eyes. She knew that he still wouldn't believe her. He never did. If he didn't believe something she said, he wouldn't ever believe it. Not unless he saw it with his own eyes, or experienced it. He was stubborn, that was for sure. Of course, with the circumstances he had, he pretty much had to be stubborn. With a little girl that wanted all kinds of sweets and toys, not being stubborn equaled a spoiled fatty child, most likely. And something like that would probably devastate Elliot. So, of course, he had to be stubborn.
She laughed at his loud exclamation of happiness. She nodded then, to his next words. "I know. But now you absolutely have to." She replied, grinning. She knew that he would be protective of her. Just as she was protective of him. But his protection had more impact on other people than hers did. That came with the fact that he was a guy, and taller, and had more muscle than her.
After getting the pin in her hair perfectly, it was taken out. "Hey!" She protested, turning around to glare at him. It didn't last long, as he had just finished putting it in his own hair, which was rather humorous. Hello Kitty didn't mix that well with him. She didn't think so, anyway. "That," she said, grinning. "Looks absolutely horrendous on you." She then quickly pulled it from his hair, being careful not to snag any of his hair on it, and placed it back in hers, removing her bangs, once again, from her eyes.
She felt his hands leave her side, and noticed them on the ground. She eyed them for a bit, waiting to see if they would move again, but they didn't, so she relaxed once more. Not too long after she leaned back onto his chest, she felt him wrap his arms around her. She grinned, and closed her eyes. For people that didn't know their relationship, it really would look like they were going out, with their crazy hugs, quick kisses on cheeks, and just the way they were usually found sitting on one another. They weren't dating, though. They were just completely crazy with their friendship, with how close they were.
She felt one arm being removed from around her, to grab the bar she held out for him. She stifled a giggle as he took a big bite from it. "Fattyyy~" She sang with a giggle, twisting her arm to poke his stomach playfully. At his words, she sighed. "Me neither, really. It's too nice and warm to go to claassss." She murmured in reply.

Elliot smiled, nodding his head as she replied. ”Don’t worry. I will. I’ll protect you even from the little bugs that try buzzing around your face.” He answered, laughing softly. In reality, he probably wouldn’t, unless he really wanted to look stupid. That would just be flat out ridiculous. He would definitely protect her from anything else, though. At least the things that she wanted help against. Some people liked to deal with things on their own because they had a lot of pride. Elliot just happened to be one of those people, but he liked getting help on the little things that weren’t so important.
That Hello Kitty pin probably looked ridiculous on him, and he knew it. It was one thing to wear girl pants, but to wear girl accessories was another. It was something you’d definitely get called gay for. Mel apparently had the same idea as him about it looking ridiculous, and soon shared the thought with him. Elliot laughed softly, ”I know. I wouldn’t wear that, ever.” It was a good thing he agreed with her at least, it would suck if he really did like it. Elliot simply let her steal her pin back, his bangs falling back over his right eye.
Awh, what a meany, teasing him after giving him the foot that made him a ‘fatty’. Elliot almost let out a scream as he got poked in the stomach. He couldn’t though, because of the food in his mouth. Instead he settled for narrowing his eyes at the girl sitting on him, not that it really meant anything. ”I’m only fat because you over feed me.” So not true. His head nodded as she spoke, it was a really nice day today. Elliot would have suggested ditching, but it was a bad idea on his part, and he knew that he needed to avoid missing more school than needed, if he wanted to graduate. ”I knooww. It’s super nice out today..”

Melanthe grinned at his words. She knew that he wouldn't. Why in the world would he go around, smacking at tiny insects when it would make him look like a fool. Sure, some of his antics made him seem a fool in other people's eyes, but swinging his hands at things that were invisible to others? She highly doubted he'd do such a thing. He wouldn't risk his image for such a thing. Unless it was some highly dangerous thing. "Good." She said with a laugh. They both knew that he'd only help if she wanted it. She did have her own sense of pride, and wouldn't let him handle a problem of hers if she didn't want him too. She knew that he was the same.
Hello Kitty and Elliot Matthews didn't mix was something she had found out from experience. He'd done similar things with her accessories before, even though most of them looked completely ridiculous on him. Some of them, like her sunglasses, looked fine. But most of them, being a bit too girly for him, were horrendous. Even if he did wear "girl pants," as people called tight pants, some things just weren't meant for Elliot to wear. "You just were," She pointed out with a smirk.
A devious grin replaced the smirk as he glared at her after she poked him, calling him a fatty. They both knew that he was no such thing. He was far from fat, and would look very weird if he were. Fat was something Elliot would never, ever be. "I never said you had to eat it. I always offer it. Nothing says that you have to eat what I offer," she retorted with a grin.
It was a lovely day. If you wanted to be cliché, you could say that "the sun was shining, the birds were singing.." and go on with whatever words you would like to add. But cliché was so...well, cliché. Nobody liked such things that were used so much, everyone had heard of it. But it was mildly warm, with a slight breeze to ruffle someone's hair every now and then. Wispy clouds lazed above them, sometimes overlapping the bright morning sun. Ditching was a possibility, but Melanthe wanted good grades, which constituted attending classes, so she could get out of this dump. So she wouldn't say anything about that possibility. "Yupyup," was her lazy reply as she looked up into the blue sky above them, dotted with the white clouds.

Of course, she had to go and call him out on his sentence. Well, he actually meant BESIDES wearing them just then. She probably knew that, too, and was just being a butthead by pointing it out. Elliot stuck out his tongue at her, ”You know what I meant. I meant besides just now.” Yes, he had tried on a few of Mel’s accessories over the years. Sunglasses, pins, bracelets, rings, and necklaces of all sorts. Most of them were too girly for him, and he tried them on just for shits and giggles. He wouldn’t ever seriously wear half the stuff he tried on of hers. Besides, he had his own little assortment of necklaces and bracelets that he wore every day, so he didn’t need Mel’s!
Elliot smirked as he listened to her argue that he didn’t have to eat the food she offered him. ”Yeah, but it’s rude to not take food that’s offered to you.” It was a good point, because some people did think it was rude. That wasn’t the case here, though. ”Besides, if I didn’t eat it..it would sit in the bottom of your backpack and be smooshed and wasted!” Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Elliot just said the word ‘smooshed’.
Another soft sigh escaped Elliot, before he took another bite out of the granola bar. As he chewed on it, his head tilted up so he could look up at the sky. ”Today would be a good day to go swimming..or some other kind of outdoor activity..” He idly stated. It was true, but there was no point behind the statement. It almost could be taken as a hint to do something later in the day, but it really wasn’t. Elliot couldn’t make hint like that, because he didn’t have the time to do that sort of stuff. He really couldn’t remember the last time he actually went to the lake and went swimming with friends. It had been a while.
Elliot fished out his cellphone yet again, just to check the time. ”We have like..10 minutes till the bell rings..” He told the girl sitting on him, just so she wouldn’t get too comfortable and would have some sort of idea of the time they had left before class.

Melanthe grinned, and retaliated by sticking her tongue out as well. It was, of course, a childish thing to do. They both knew it. And yet, it was something they did at least two times everyday. It was something that came with their teasing of each other. "No, I had no idea of what you meant. Thank you so much for informing me of that." She replied, sugar-coating her voice, making it sickly-sweet sounding. It was something that didn't particularly suit Melanthe, not that it suited many people, but it sounded completely wrong on her.
Melanthe really did know what he meant, but it was so much more fun just to pick on him. It was always fun to pick on someone, as long as they knew that she didn't mean any harm at all, and they didn't tack it seriously. Then it probably wouldn't be as fun. She also knew that he had plenty of his own accessories to wear. Necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses, whatever he chose to wear along with his clothes. He really didn't need hers one bit, she knew, yet he loved just to take her things, and wear them for no reason, except to look completely silly.
She had to admit he was right. It was generally considered rude not to take free food offered directly to you. Mel didn't care, though. If someone didn't want her food, it was fine with her. If she didn't want it, she didn't want it. If someone else wanted it, or might want it, she'd offer it to them. Should they not want it, it was okay with her. Whatever worked with her. "Sure, but it's not like I'd ditch you just cuz you don't eat something I offered you." Was her reply. "Not necessarily. It'd probably at the bottom of some trashcan, smooshed and wasted." She retorted to his accusation of food being wasted in her bag. She would never let something that could rot or ants wanted it in her bag for over a day. It wasn't something that would ever happen.
She sighed again, nodding at his words. She knew better than to take it as a hint for them to go. He would be too busy with his sister to go, and it was no fun to go by yourself, or with a five year old tagging along. Fun at the lake or pool meant having several friends, and not having someone you had to constantly watch. "Yeah, it would be," was all she said in reply. She didn't know how long it'd been since they had gone out to do something together. Without the little girl. She didn't hate her, but sometimes she just wished she wasn't there.
Melanthe groaned when he mentioned the time. "Urrrggh...that sucks," she muttered, annoyed. She hated the bells, hated schedules in general. She wished she could do school on her own time, not by the strict rules of others. Then, perhaps, she could have time to do some things she might want to do during the day besides school. Oh, that would be so nice. But it never happened. Never would happen. Not even homeschoolers got that much freedom. [/blockquote]

Elliot rolled his eyes at the girl. She was being sarcastic, which was more than obvious. His face twisted though, at the way she made her voice sound. ”If you don’t want to get tickled again..I suggest you don’t do that again.” He threatened, laughing softly afterwards. It wasn’t an empty threat, either, and she would know that. ”Also. You’re welcome. That’s what I’m here for.” Well, he really wasn’t here to inform her, but whateverrr.
Wait, what was she going on about? ”I never said anything about you ditching me, love.” He replied, laughing even more. He knew that she didn’t care if he did or didn’t take the food she offered, though. The food would have gone to waste though if he hadn’t eaten it, and he was hungry. So it was a win win situation for him, but not so much for the granola bar. Elliot nodded his head after she said it would be at the bottom of a trashcan. ”Yeah, so I’d rather it be in my stomach and me be a fatty than waste perfectly good food. I mean..those little kids in Africa would be sad if I wasted food!” God, he hated it when people would say that Americans wasted food that could be given to the starving kids in Africa. Call him selfish, but he really didn’t give a shit about them. He had his own issues to worry about.
Man, what he would do to actually have a day or two to himself. Sometimes he got lucky, and Allie would go to a friends house. It was only for an hour or so, so its not like he could go and do something while she was gone. On a rare occasion, there would be a birthday party or a sleepover. It didn’t guarantee he could do something, though. Then he had to worry about homework and catching up on it so he didn’t fail his senior year, or have to drop out. Dropping out was becoming more and more of an option for him at this point, too. What he really needed to do was to find someone willing to watch Allie, a babysitter that he could call whenever he needed. That would mean trying to convince his dad to pay for it, though..
Elliot laughed softy, his arm around her tightening to give her a small gentle squeeze. ”I think you’ll survive.” He said, continuing to smile. ”Well, you might survive today. Tomorrow is a whooole other story..”
