Jordan is (and always has been) the shy and overanalytical brilliant artist. There's always something about him that makes everyone lean towards liking him, regardless of who they are. Perhaps it's the nature of the boy's disposition and his natural charisma that draws even the rivals from the other school to be friends or at least acquaintances with him. Of course, with his smarts and relatively attractive looks, most of his friends and admirers are - go figure - girls.[/size]
Enter Misery - better known as MJ - one of the first friends that he's made since his move from London to Roanoke Valley. She's just like him in almost every way - smart and talented - and she's also his rock, his confidante, his best friend. Of course, there is more to MJ than meets the eye, especially within her relationship with Jordan. In the most cliche fashion, the moment they stepped into the 'best-friend-that's-like-my-sister' zone, MJ's true feelings became clear to her - she was there for a reason, and all the times she had volunteered herself to be there always had underlying tones - she loved him.
Jordan has always had feelings for MJ, but he's never openly explored the situation in his head, or just in general. But he can feel the tension, the change in their conversations and other components of their friendship. And one day, during a heart to heart at his house, he poses the question - is her behavior due to the fact that she's attracted to him, and does she love him? Faced with admittance and thinking she's risking too good of a friendship, MJ hesitates - but is soon entrapped in a passionate kiss with her best friend that leads up to making love in his room, further complicating the emotions.
Of course, the drama never ends at a point like that. Just when everything seems crazy enough, MJ panics soon after she wakes up from after falling asleep in Jordan's arms. As she gathers her things quickly and proceeeds to run off abruptly, Jordan, while remaining confused, quickly follows suit and trails her as she leaves. Where he ends up is not where or what he expected - and MJ has held a secret from him for too long. Everything starts to slowly make sense as he stands in front of the bulding, and as MJ exits and sees Jordan standing there on the sidewalk, the two are left speechless.
Will MJ admit the truth to her best friend about her feelings? Does Jordan really feel the same way, or was it just a heat-of-the-moment decision? Will their friendship be ruined, or will it evolve into something greater than they could ever have imagined with the factors they have been given? And what about the secret? Will MJ explain it all to him, and will Jordan be able to accept it? Or will it all fall apart even as they watch?
