and we shake, shake shake the hips, in relationships [/i][/b] A perfect world on a perfect day. Yeah right. Nothing was ever close to perfect. It could be decent or even wonderful, but never perfect. Or.. that's what Misery thought about some things in life. Today, it was going to be wonderful. It was Friday, which meant that the day care was open later, and that after two weeks of having to go straight home, she was free from her life for at least another six hours. Gazing down at the time on her cell phone, she smiled slightly. It was only four thirty... Oh thank the Lord for Aiden and his generosity. Once again, the sixteen year old had a life. Well at least a partial one.
Today, was going to be her day. Right after class, she raced to the gym's locker room to change. Several minutes later, she emerged from her bathroom in a cut up white tee with the strings of her black bikini to showing above the neckline, and a pair of skinny jeans. Her jet black hair was framed her pale face perfectly and she wore a pair chuck tailors on her feet. After approving herself in the mirror and running her hands through her hair a few times, she made her way to the stairs that lead to the entrance hall of Lording's. With a small grin on her tired features.
By the time she had reached the entrance hall, she had pissed off several girls and flirted with at least four guys. Such a sad thing to have to do... deny the boys a day of attention. Especially when you were so good at giving it to them. Generally, MJ would jump at the chance to spend a day with a good looking guy, but today was all about her. She was going to have her way and spend one day alone without having to worry about some guy hanging all over her just because she was in a swimsuit. Now, don't get me wrong, Misery loved her boys... there was just a time or two when a girl needed time to herself.
Placing her small hands on the knob of the door the led from the entrance hall to the courtyard, she gave one quick push. However, instead of letting her lips twitch up into a small smirk at the feeling of the warm sun, her mouth fell open in a bit of shock. Instead of seeing the the sun high in the sky, she saw a wall of thick black clouds hovering over the grounds and the pitter-patter of rain could be heard. For the briefest of moments, she stood there looking completely dumbstruck, but finally, she looked down at herself. She wasn't dressed for this, but she honestly didn't care. As much as she wanted to go for a swim and lay out in the sun, she loved the rain. For the first time in a long time... a smile came across her face.
So now, instead of walking to get her car so she could head towards the Gator Center, she slowly stepped out from under the protection of the roof and into the rain. Closing her eyes, she tilted her head up towards the sky and let her arms raise on either side of her body. Her lips held a smile as she stood there, simply taking in the feeling of the water as it seeped through her clothes and soaked through her skin. Soon enough, her hair clung to her face, as did her shirt to her body and she opened her eyes again.
Soon enough her feet moved in a sort of rhythmic way, essentially so she was dancing in the rain.

You used to say that you're just fine, But I still wonder all the time.
One more year. Only one more. These thoughts were the only ones that were really running through Jordan's head as he sat in the air-conditioned classroom. AP Calculus AB. What a wonderful course decision to make for your senior year. It wasn't that he couldn't handle it - everyone knew that Jordan Ainsworth was pretty much the epitome of brilliance - but today just didn't seem his day at all. His eyes were focused on the blackboard and the numbers that were on it, but he didn't really take anything in at the moment - everything was just distant in his head, and he was lacking concentration already within the first week back to school. Not even when Mr. Walker called on him to answer a problem did he really snap out of it, even if he did get the right answer somehow. And it was only second period - god, the day couldn't have started any slower, and even the little sunstorm drizzle outside the window wasn't entertaining him.
It wasn't even that it was senioritis taking over - there was no way it was going to happen, anyway - it was just that Jordan's mind was reliving the last year in his head. Being a senior wasn't a big deal to him, but the fact that the gears inside his head were grinding and making him remember and see how much he changed since he came from England to go to school here was driving him a bit mad. At least he had AP Government last - a better ending to his day than it had began with AP Chemistry. But of course, it didn't end with classes - his advisor and counselor wanted to talk to him about college selection, and that meeting had taken a lot longer than he thought it would. Even then he wasn't really concentrating, it didn't take much to rattle off a list of colleges to a person anyway.
Soon - and finally - he found himself at his locker, and he stared at it blankly. He was a senior now. He'd be leaving people behind soon, and he had just gotten to this place a little over a year ago. It was surreal to Jordan, as he felt like he was strangely running from his fate or future at the moment. Things he did, things he said, faces he knew, names and words and mush...everything was a blur. As he had carried himself through the rest of the day, things remained the same. He wasn't thinking - or, he was thinking too much that he didn't notice it. His thoughts had frequently went back to people he hadn't seen in a while, like his friends from France and England. Whatever. Maybe it was because it was Friday, and the week had been a little hectic for his tastes. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.
He wordlessly started to take out the books and stuff he needed for homework tonight with a practiced sense of organization. Yeah, seven different Advanced Placement classes weren't such a good idea but oh well, that was Jordan for you anyway. Slipping some of it into his backpack, he slung it carelessly over his shoulder and slammed the locker door, keeping his calculus textbook wedged between his left arm and his side. His hands moved into his pockets, giving him an even more casual look of seniority as he started to exit the building. Checking his watch, he saw it was a little after 4:00, much later than he would have wanted to stay at school especially on a Friday afternoon. There were days and times for that, but today wasn't one of them, at least not for him. Walking by a few acquaintances and people he knew just by a name-basis, he got acknowledged and he in turn acknowledged them back as he continued on down the hallway.
Approaching the entrance hall doors, he saw that it was raining outside - the grey had come out of nowhere in comparison to the sunny morning he had come into school with. Great. Literally, it had put a damper on his mood. Sighing as he reached to the back of his jeans for the keys that hung from the clip on one of the denim rungs, he proceeded forward and opened the door. The drizzle seemed to have increased to actual pouring in the last couple hours, and as he glanced around, he was subjected to a double-take as he stared at the only other person outside. Was...was that...? He was blankly staring at MJ - it was definitely her, there was no mistake about it - and she was dancing in the rain. MJ, being here. After dropping out last year and just disappearing for a hell of a long time without any word to him or anything. The irony was killing him - since he had been wondering about her earlier during class.
Stepping out from underneath the concrete canopy above the entrance doors, he just moved slowly and quietly until he was just a little closer, The rain droplets were running on the strands of his messy dark hair, being absorbed by his shirt and the canvas of his dark brown Vans. She was dancing in the rain. He still couldn't get over that. And he continued to stand there, dumbfounded to an extent. It was like she was a hologram, a memory, and that maybe the rain would make her disappear - which was what he was afraid of, because he didn't want her to disappear again. Knowing if that was really her would be a start to finding out what brought her back, and just what happened in the first place. "MJ?" he called out, finding himself about 5 feet behind her and wondering if she would even remember his voice.

A small tune was issued through MJ's lips as she spun round again. In her head, she sang along, as her lips never parted from the smile that had long since replaced the look of worry and anxiety on her face. 'Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens.' The feeling of rain on her skin was so blissful she almost forgot everything in this world that was wrong. All those scars she bore seemed to disappear as she finally stopped spinning and just stood there, her head tilted back so she could look up at the sky. It was simply amazing how just the littlest things could brighten your whole mood for the day. Oh if only she could feel this way every day.
'Two more years and you're free.' she reminded herself as she gazed out over the courtyard. By now, several deep puddles had appeared on the concrete and they looked oh so tempting. Misery hadn't gone puddle sloshing in the longest of times. The last time she had gone was... well, last year. Two days after her birthday last year, a huge storm blew over Roanoke and it was the most amazing thing to be in. Despite the harsh winds, Misery had ran out in the rain with and just jumped in the huge pools mother nature had created. It was so much fun.. Her only wish now was that someone was there to share in her happiness, as it wasn't very often she was this smiley.
The first person she thought of was Jordan. Lord, she hadn't seen him in what seemed like ages. Around eight months to be exact. Right before she dropped out of school before anyone could notice she was pregnant. As his smiling face beamed from behind her emerald eyes, her mood suddenly dropped. She missed him so much. She had expected to see him this morning in the halls, but he was no where to be found. With a slight sigh, she shook her head. She was back at school now and she was no doubt going to see him soon. She just didn't know how soon...
Then, she heard a voice calling her name. At first, she thought it was just the empty howling of the wind, but then, something in her mind went off. She knew that voice. She knew it all to well. It was the voice she had been dying to hear for nearly eight months. Slowly, MJ turned around and standing not five feet from her was a dark haired, hazel- eyed boy who stood nearly 11 inches taller than her. With a slight gasp, she immediately ran forward and flung her arms around his neck, an even bigger grin on her face and her eyes shinning brightly from behind the matted strands of her wet hair.
"Jordan!" she said happily, hugging him closer to her body. Gently, she kissed his cheek in a 'friendly' way before letting go and taking ahold of his hands. "I've missed you so much!" she said softly, her head tilting slightly as she gazed up at him. In the back of her mind, she felt as if an explanation was needed, but then again, she didn't know what she was going to say to him yet, so she simply stuck with the small talk, just happy to be in his presence. She really had missed him. In fact, she had thought of him every night for the past couple months. She felt awful about just leaving him like that.
Ever since she could remember, she had always been there for him. He had trusted her with everything and she just ran off with no explanation. Had he needed her when she was gone? If so, she was going to feel worse than she already did. MJ wanted more than anything to go back in time and tell him the reason why she was going to have to leave.. but would have he accepted it? Could he accept it now? It wasn't easy to deal with having a child. Sure Aiden copped with it fine, but now, she felt as if he felt sorry for her and she never wanted Jordan to feel that way. Mikey wasn't a burden.. he was unplanned, sure. But she loved him with all her heart, just as she loved Jordan.
As she stood there, looking up at him, she wanted to say so much more but no words could spill from her red painted lips. She was scared... thus, she waited for him to speak first.

For a moment he thought that she wouldn't stop dancing, just proceeding on happily like there wasn't anything wrong or nothing in the world mattered - then he remembered that there was only one or two instances where MJ was really truly happy and without a care. Other than that, there was always something wrong in her life - and she never deserved it. So the fact that she was there, dancing and twirling as water poured from the sky, baffled him - this was not really the person he remembered. Then again, it had basically been ages since he had seen her after she disappeared for no reason. Perhaps that was part of why he felt very weird, with mixtures of confusion and a little bit of resentment. He couldn't even comprehend this - if everything was fine and dandy in her life or something had made her too happy as she seemed now, then why didn't she tell him? Why did she leave? The questions were endless, and he had a feeling he wouldn't find the answers to them any time soon, anyway.
The next thing he knew, she had flung herself at him, snapping him out of his dazed trance with her wet clothes and hair up against his own. The friendly cheek kiss and her fluid moments, the voice that he had been so familiar with less than a year ago was ringing in his ears - it was surreal for him as his lanky arms (even with the calc textbook in hand) made it around her whole body and wrapped her up in one of his "special hugs", as she used to call it. The hug where you feel like nothing matters and you'll never be let free from the secure grasp of the other person - she had always liked that best about him, and only heaven knew how many times she needed them from him, as well as how much he had always been willing to give them to her. The thoughts were swimming in his head as his cheek rested against MJ's dark wet hair as he held her quietly, the fingers on Jordan's free hand running through the soaked strands.
What could you possibly say to one of your best friends if they had done that? She -did- just go up and leave, and now she was back, and she missed him and all that stuff - he missed her too, but he needed some answers. When it happened, Jordan felt very alone, and he had really only told Aiden about it in depthly. Aiden was the only person besides MJ that really knew him in a certain way, since he was a guy and there was always a need for some guy talk. In truth, both boys were kind of left basically unaware - or, they were as far as Jordan knew. Biting his lip, he wondered if Aiden knew all the answers all along, or if he was left in the dark as much as he was. Shaking his head, he tried not to judge and jump too quickly, instead trying to focus on the here and now. "Hi..."
It was the best thing he could say back to her at the very moment. His voice sounded so weak in comparison to what she could probably remember, so uncharacteristic of Jordan Ainsworth that it kind of made himself sick. Still keeping her close, he moved his head only to kiss her hair, then pulling away from her just a little bit so he could see her face. She looked a little paler than he remembered, but she was still MJ to him. Never Misery, her name was far from captivating who she really was - and the emotions that she made him feel were also too far from what her name implied to begin with. "MJ...I can't...I can't believe you're here...it's been so long...I mean, where have you even been all this time?" he asked slowly, the confusion so clear in his voice and making it sound like he was about to cry. He probably looked that way, too - and he wasn't going to even try to hide his disappointment and dismay from her.
The atmosphere seemed to get even darker, and with a brief glance at the sky, Jordan let MJ out of his grasp and smoothed his own now-soaked dark hair. She looked scared and very hesitant, he was probably making her uncomfortable now anyway. Hazel eyes laced with an awkward sadness in its reflection, he put his hand on her shoulder, looking in the other direction towards the student parking lot. Whatever that needed to be said, it wasn't the right place to say it here in case people would come out and hear or see, plus the rain didn't help it much. A flash of lighting was seen through his peripheral vision. "Let's go to my car, I don't want either of us to get even wetter than we should - although you seemed to be enjoying yourself very much over there..."

Jordan had been her life for over a year now, and that's how she wanted it to stay. She loved him more than anything in her life (well, everything but Mikey of course) and she hated the fact that she had to be separated from him for so long. Just as Aiden had, he always took such wonderful care of her. He had even offered for her to come stay with him for as long as she needed, but would he feel the same way now that she had a baby? If there was one thing Misery was sure of, it was that Mikey would change her relationship with a lot of people. Some would feel sorry for her, some would think her a slut, and others just wouldn't give a damn and go on treating her how they treated her in the first place.
She could only pray the Jordan would keeping being himself with her, even after he found out why she had disappeared for so long. But she knew that when he found out, the fact that she hadn't told him in the first place would destroy him. But, at the time, she couldn't help but to lie to him.. she was scared to say it out loud, as it might really be true. Getting pregnant at age fifteen and giving birth several weeks before your seventeenth birthday wasn't something to be proud of. It was scary and your whole world was thrown into a tizzy. Sometimes, it was often scarier for your friends, than it was to you.. and because of MJ's strong feelings for Jordan, she didn't want to scare him off. She loved him more than anything and she just couldn't risk losing him. Only now it might be too late for that anyways.
At the feeling of his arms wrapping around her small form, entrapping her in one of his special hugs, her pale cheeks flushed a brilliant pink. Those hugs he gave could end all the problems in the world. If there was some way to spread them, there would be world peace. No one would be able to resist. For the briefest of moments, her eyes closed and a small tear fell from the pit of her eyes as she clung to him. She wanted to say so many things, but again, she was almost speechless, so she decided to just enjoy standing there with him.
MJ could feel the tension in the air. It was killing her. She felt like someone had stabbed a knife into her gut then turned it the other way to cause more pain. But, the moment she felt his cheek come to rest atop of her wet head, she smiled slightly before looking up at him and placing a soft kiss on his nose just before she wrapped her arms around him again in a hug. For those several long moments of not speaking and having his strong fingers run through her hair, she felt like she was in heaven. She had missed him all too much.
When he finally spoke, she could sense all those emotions in his voice and she looked up at him, his hands held in hers and she gave him a small half smile as if to say 'I'm sorry'. He looked so hurt. But, it was apparent that it did nothing for him as the next time he spoke, he sounded as if he was going to cry. Upon looking up at him, she realized that her assumption was just about him was true. "Oh Jordan..." she said softly, her own eyes losing all the shine they had led as she once again wrapped her arms around him. "I'm so sorry. I got into some trouble and I-" Her voice cracked and she pulled away from him before looking down at the ground, her hands still in his. "I'm sorry... I should have tried to get in contact with you.. it's just..."
No matter what she tried to say, nothing was coming out right. She was still so confused as to what she should tell him. Should she carry on with her little white lie, or should she breakdown and tell him the whole story and beg for his forgiveness? "I didn't want to be away from you for so long. You have no idea..." On the contrary, he probably had some idea. He probably missed her as much as she had missed him. The two had been so close and relied on each other for everything. When the other was gone for even a day, the other who was left behind felt so lost... they just had such a strong bond.
MJ looked back up at him the moment he placed his hand on her shoulder. Those beautiful hazel eyes looked so sad... she felt horrible knowing that she was the cause for his drowning in dismay. She wanted to apologize several more times, but she knew that wouldn't take away the pain she had caused him. Nothing would, if anything, she knew she was about to cause more when she told him why she was gone for so long. It would also destroy any chance she had of being with him.
In truth, Misery had loved jordan for as long as she could remember and before she got pregnant, she was planning on telling him how much she cared for him... but now, she was sure that if she told him there was no chance of them being together because of her child. After all, who would want to have a kid at their age. So much responsibility and no free time...
He spoke again, freeing her mind from her thoughts. "Jordan, just wait for a moment." she said quietly, her eyes giving him a small smile, though her lips stayed emotionless. "Just stand here and enjoy it. I'm already soaked through. It's been along time since I've got to enjoy the rain... please?" Although MJ would have liked to get a little warmer, she couldn't deny the fact that she wanted to just stand here with him and enjoy the rain. Also, she was trying to buy herself time to think of what he was finally going to tell him.
