The only thing people strive for is to win games. In particular, football. Football is life in the Roanoke Valley. It seems so Friday Night Lights but it’s completely true. I mean, sure, the other sports are great too, but only parents, siblings, and neighbors of the players ever go to those games. Football is the winner here. And the team is actually pretty good, no matter the rumors of them being on drugs and sleeping around with the cheerleaders. Cliques exist in every hall, every niche, every crevice of the school. If you aren’t with the preps and jocks, you are cast out on your butt. You are shunned, and then pushed down further and further. Climb the steps of fame, you’ll fall right back down. Every position has been in place since elementary school, and nothing is going to change that. Or is it?

The Roanoke Valley is home to one of the strongest school rivalries the state of Virginia has known. The two share their football field, but the police have to come to every game, to make sure there is no sabotage. And yet, every game, something happens. Football is life here in Roanoke, and the two schools will do whatever they can to stop each other from winning the Blue Ridge District Championship each year, for both teams have a sure bet at it. Sure, there are other schools in the District, but every year, one of them has made it at least to the semi-finals.

Secrets surround the school, rumors spread. Who is better at hiding it? The druggies or the smarties? The fighters or the spies? The hatred is so strong, even seeing a member of the other school on the streets causes a fight. Police are always on the alert. But what happens when there is a murder at Lording’s Academy? The first to be suspected is the Lucy Madison students. But what if the killing came within? What will happen when the city is put through turmoil, as more killings happen? Students pronounced dead from both schools. Students disappearing, ransom notes appearing. What will happen when the fate of the whole city is threatened to decrease drastically? What will happen when the pride and joy of Roanoke is threatened to be extinguished? When the very Star that they all look up to in times of desperation, is threatened to be unplugged; forever?
